Our February Meeting Features Amy Dolan Presenting "Colorado's Bumble Bees and How We Can Help Them."
Learn about local bumble bees from Endangered Species Conservation Biologist, Amy Dolan. She’ll teach us about their role as pollinators, the threats they face, the diversity of species, their life cycles, and conservation efforts. There will also be information shared about the Xerces Society's Mountain States Bumble Bee Atlas Project.
Amy has a bachelor's degree in biology from Wisconsin Lutheran College and a master’s degree in entomology from Montana State University. Her master's project was “The Bumble Bees of Montana.” Much of Amy’s career has been spent in education—as a middle and high school science teacher, outdoor educator, and youth crew leader. She is excited to explore the diverse landscapes of the mountain states while connecting with new people and sharing her love of bumble bees.
This meeting will be shared with Mesa County Libraries and will be held in the Central Library Community Room at 443 N 6th St, Grand Junction, CO 81501. The presentation starts at 5:30 and seating is first come, first serve, so be sure to arrive early.
Following the presentation, we will head across the street to finish the remainder of our program at our regular meeting place: the Universalist Unitarian Congregation Church, 536 Ouray Ave, Grand Junction. We will have a social break and a very short business meeting. Guests are welcome and attendance is free.
